A New Era.
It's time to reveal a new direction for 75 Percent Chance.
This year was hands down, the most competitive year in college admissions
full stop.
I saw students with quite literally perfect grades and test scores getting rejected not just from the Ivy Leagues and other top 25 schools, but from their safeties and targets as well.
If you haven’t quite gotten it yet, we’ve entered a new era of college admissions. We’ve all known that your mom’s and dad’s advice is probably out of date, but this a is whole new level of difficulty. At this point, your sibling, who might only be 3-5 years older than you, had a MUCH easier time getting into college than you will.
This isn’t to fearmonger, try to make you panic, or to get you to buy my course, but it is imperative that if you want to get into an Ivy or T25 school, you fully understand the game you are playing.
With that out of the way, let’s cut straight to the meat of this article. Two years ago in my sophomore year of high school, I started 75 Percent Chance as a way of helping my friends and I prepare for college admissions. We all had Ivy League dreams but no clue of what these colleges wanted from us.
Over the next few months, I submerged myself in every college information pool I could, reading literally tens of thousands of articles on college admissions, watching hundreds of videos on how to get in, and talking to dozens of admissions officers at top schools to try and figure out WHAT these incredibly exclusionary universities wanted in an applicant. I synthesized all this information into my own articles and Instagram reels, posting hundreds of videos to an audience of millions on my viral @75PercentChance_ account and writing hundreds of thousands of words right here on this very newsletter.
In my senior year, I began to offer one-on-one meetings with underclassmen and other seniors to help them build out and refine their college applications. This started small, with 1-2 chats a week, but soon grew to over 50 meetings a month (if you are interested in chatting, feel free to find a slot here)
It was in these meetings that I think I hit the essence of what makes a college application Ivy League “worthy.” After you’ve gotten your 4.0 and your 1600 SAT, the game becomes much less about doing the most possible and cramming every activity into your schedule. Instead, it’s about telling a story in your application. Yes, you are an excellent student, a founder, a writer, a club president, but WHAT about those things made you do them. Admissions officers aren’t looking for a soulless cancer curing genius or an unethical teenage business mogul earning millions a year. They want kids who love what they do, even if it’s tiny stuff like dog walking, selling their own coffee, or cooking every night for grandparents and elderly friends.
From these meetings and my other learnings, I built my own college application surrounding what I love most, not what I thought would “look” the best in an application review room. When March arrived, as you know now very well, students across the nation were devastated. Reddit was flooded with a slew of cooked seniors and coping parents, all perplexed as to what went wrong. Yet, on my end, things were looking VERY different. I secured a spot at my dream business program with a sub 5% acceptance rate, while my students and clients got spots at all 8 of the Ivies, all 9 of the UC’s, MIT, Duke, Stanford, and MANY more.
The “secret sauce” of why we got in amidst the ocean of rejections?
That’s what I’m going to FULLY go over in my live, online two week seminar in June. This isn’t your classic college guidance counselor’s boring rant about joining choir and yearbook. I’ll be joined by some of the TOP speakers in the college space as we go over EXACTLY how you can build a top tier application that’ll guarantee you a spot at a T25 university. Learn more about that and enroll here.
Don’t have the time to commit to this career-changing experience? We just released a new edition of our critically acclaimed book which goes over all the same information in our live course for you to read at your own pace. (Get the book 30% for the next week with the code 75PERCENTCHANCE30 here.)
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Best,
